helping people with HIV/AIDS displaced by Katrina

A note from a buddy who works at an HIV/AIDS service provider in Dallas:

I just wanted to take a moment to update you on the progress being made to assist Katrina survivors with HIV/AIDS. Many of those displaced are coming to the Houston and Dallas area. Some will stay in a shelter here in Dallas set up at Reunion Arena, we have already seen others who are staying with family and friends.I work for AIDS Arms here in Dallas and we are setting up a special fund, set aside for these refugees only. We will provide medical care, medications, food assistance, transportation assistance, case management, counseling referrals and anything else that might be needed. This will be provided whether the government assists us or not!My suggestions is that you donate your relief funds to an AIDS Service Organization in Texas, Dallas or Houston, specifically so your donations go right to the people that will have "special needs"

If you want more information on how to get involved you may email me directly at dhartney@aidsarms.orgTogether, we can make a difference and put some of these shattered lives back together.
